About Ian
St. George’s G&CC, Toronto
Having grown up with a golfing father who loved the historic elements of the game, Ian Andrew has worked in golf design for nearly 40 years.
Having established himself as lead associate for a Toronto-based design firm where Ian worked on new projects and led the company’s restoration efforts, Ian Andrew Golf Design was created in 2005.
Since that time, Ian has worked with many of the best courses in North America. He started in Canada, where his work on courses like St. George’s (host of the 2010 and 2022 RBC Canadian Opens), Highlands Links, and Lavel-Sur-Le-Lac gained significant attention. In recent years, growth has come from design work in Long Island, Boston, Cleveland and other regions.
A noted writer and historian, journalists from around the world turn to Ian for his opinion and perspective on golf architecture, design, and the state of the game.
“I have worked with Ian on various restoration projects, including St. George’s, host of the 2022 RBC Canadian Open. He does an excellent job of maintaining the original design while improving the long-term sustainability using current construction methods.”
